Black is a potential Super STAR, he always gets the job done, he is currently dubbed the black torpedo but that is developing into a sheep seeking discerning torpedo with amazing intelligence and reasoning powers.
A dog in a million, I am proud to have bred this Stunning dog, almost perfect in every way.
He is very quick to learn, sensitive, enormously willing to please, powerful and stylish, with natural pace (even if a bit fast and pushy), his flanks were easy to widen as was getting direction commands, he is so clever you usually only have to tell him or show him what you want once.
His only fault is that because he tries too hard both in his work and for your recognition he can be over enthusiastic and make stupid mistakes especially when excited.
He has a conscience, luckily, this make it much easier to handle his pure power, guts and enthusiasm.
The only thing missing to make Black my perfect dog is the "off switch" however, he comes from the Astra Tweed line (Tecwyn Robert's Roy).
Tweed was renowned for amazing off switches, so maybe it has jumped a generation as Black's "off Switch" is developing as he matures.
It is unfortunate that Black has not had the early opportunities for training, due to my having to look for a new home from 2014, finally finding one and moving in May 2016, even now, we are so busy building and getting the property right that Black's training has been neglected and suddenly he is four years old.
Luckily, he is one of those that appears to learn in the kennel, and improves each time he is taken out, despite perhaps breaks of several months between access to sheep.
What could this dog do with regular work? He has been on the nursery field three times and been placed twice, he has not been trialled since.
Work is all this dogs now needs to fulfil his enormous potential.
I am looking for the right retirement home for Black with someone who want to learn about trails and has the work and capability of handling a strong but very biddable sheepdog.
